What we do

This page provides an overview of the activities and opportunities offered by 969 (St Helens) Squadron of the Air Training Corps (ATC), we are a youth organisation affiliated with the Royal Air Force. It highlights some of the benefits of joining the squadron, such as developing skills, gaining qualifications, making friends, and having fun. We invite interested young people aged 12 to 17 to visit the squadron and learn more about its programmes.

  • Flying & Gliding

    Putting the "Air" in Air Cadets. You will be given the opportunity to take to the skies in a variety of aircrafts.

  • Shooting

    One of the most popular activities is shooting, you will be taught how to safely use a weapon system.

  • Drill & Ceremonial

    The more official duties of being an Air Cadet is learning drill and participating in official parades.

  • Duke of Edinburgh (DofE)

    Within the Air Cadets, you will have the opportunity to undertake every level of the Duke of Edinburgh Qualification.

  • Sports

    Physical fitness is a key part to staying healthy. The Air Cadets partakes in many sporting activities.

  • Adventure Training

    You will be given the opportunity to participate in many Adventure Training Activities whicht he RAFAC can offer.

  • Training & Education

    You will have the chance to obtin a BTEC within the Air Cadets along side many other skills.

  • Music

    Play a musical instrument or sing? You can progress your skills and put a marching twist on it.

  • Camps

    Spending from a weekend to a full week away either inland or abroad. Join to gain new experiences.
